Bahrain Economy Records Historic Fivefold Growth Over Two Decades
The Bahrain economy has recorded historic growth over the past two decades, expanding more than fivefold compared to its size at the start of the millennium, according to official data from the Information and eGovernment Authority.
Deputy Minister of Finance and National Economy Maryam Al Ansari stated that the Bahrain economy has maintained positive growth since 2000, with gross domestic product rising from about $9 billion to more than $47 billion by the end of 2024, reflecting sustained expansion in productive and service sectors.
She added that the Bahrain economy now demonstrates stronger competitiveness, supported by diversification policies that have enhanced investment attraction and financial sustainability.
Improving income levels
Data from the Social Insurance Organization show that the average gross monthly wage for Bahrainis in both public and private sectors increased from 439 dinars in 2005 to 893 dinars in 2024, indicating a tangible improvement in living standards.
This development strengthens the labor market by empowering citizens and expanding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, supporting long-term economic stability.
